IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Paint-Ins (in-person or Zoom) are being suspended for the immediate future (January-May) due to the continuing threat of COVID-19 variants. Everyone is encouraged to paint independently and post to the Facebook Members Only page.

The January 18 paint-in and January 25 pop-up paint-in were intended to be in-person gatherings to create Valentine’s Day cards for the children at Lifescape. However, we are still planning to bring Valentines greetings to them, so please put on your creativity caps and paint cards for the children. We need 120 cards, 5”x7” or smaller. Drop off for the cards will be at the First Presbyterian Church between 1:30-3:00 pm on Tuesday, February 1st in the room where we normally meet.

Learn More About Our Events

Each month our members are invited to attend an informational meeting and /or a painting demonstration presented by a nationally known artist via Zoom or in person. Member artists are encouraged to paint along with the guest presenters when featured in a Zoom presentation. Monthly meetings are held September through November and January through May.

With COVID surging, and the CDC recommending masks even for outside gatherings, we want to encourage masks, even though we have no formal mandate.

A Pop-Up is an event not formally scheduled far in advance, but may be added to the calendar at any time. Generally, this is an event that we came across or were invited to that is deemed educational to our members.

Paint-ins (in-person or via zoom) are being suspended for the immediate future (January-May) due to the continuing threat of Covid-19 variants. Everyone is encouraged to “paint independently” and post to the Facebook Members Only page.

En Plein Airs are held once a month on a Friday morning from June – mid-September. These painting sessions are held at scenic venues in and around the Sioux Falls area. This event is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, so feel free to invite your friends. Make sure you bring a lunch and the paint supplies you wish to use during the session. Any paint medium is welcome at these events. After lunch, we end with show and tell of our work and give and get feedback from our fellow artists. We also have the occasional Pop-Up event, as well.

There’s nothing better than a road trip! We travel with a caravan of member artists and visit interesting shops, museums or art events around the area. This is a fun way to get to know other fellow artists.

A Care and Share Outreach event is a painting session or class taught by a member at various sanctuary locations in the Sioux Falls area. Residents or patients of nursing homes, cancer centers, hospice centers or hospitals are encouraged to join our artists in the painting fun. GPWS provides art supplies for our special, visiting guests.

We schedule organized tours of new art shows in Sioux Falls, especially for shows that feature work by member artists or nationally-known artists. To end each tour, we often have a group lunch or coffee session to discuss our experience.
