Member Invitational Prospectus
Exhibition will be at the Rehfelds Modern fine art and framing from April 4, 2025 – April 26, 2025
Entry submissions are due on or by March 2, 2025. Each artist may submit three (3) paintings for an entry fee of 1st painting – $30, 2nd painting – $5, and 3rd painting- $5.
Instructions
Open to all GPWS members whose dues are paid in full.
Please send your information anytime between February 1 – March 1 to URL XXX (to be announced after January) or Marjorie Ness (nessm28@hotmail.com). Call 712-261-0827 if youhave problems or questions.
Artist must include their name, title and photo of their work, level of expertise, price, artist statement, mailing address, and phone number. All work must be for sale.
Also affix to the back of each painting the title, price, your name, mailing address and phone number. Please place this info on the bottom righthand side.
Absolutely no changes can be made to your entry listing/price after March 2, 2025. No exceptions.
Please put a protective wrap on your piece. Drop off your work by April 1, 2025 at the Rehfelds Modern, #101, 431 N Phillips Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57104. To be entered in the exhibition, all entries MUST arrive by April 1, 2025 (1:00 – 5:30). Payment will be due when painting is received.
After the exhibition is complete, entries must be picked up April 26, 2025 – May 2, 2025 (Tuesday – Friday, 10-5:30 pm and Saturday 11-4 pm).
Acceptable Work
Paintings must be predominantly water media which includes watercolor, water-soluble inks, acrylic, casein, gouache, collage (collage must be original and not more than 10% of the painting), or egg tempera.
Original two-dimensional watercolor painting on a single sheet of watercolor paper, yupo, rice paper, or canvas.
NO size of painting restrictions.
All components must be original. If the painting is discovered NOT to be original the GPWS officers will immediately withdraw the painting and/or award. Member will be sanctioned for one year and will be prohibited from participating in the show for one year. Please use honorable ethics concerning originality.
All paintings must be framed with glass or plexiglass. Work varnished before framing will not require glass. No frame is required on canvas work or 1.5 inch cradles.
Paintings shall be matted with single plain white or off-white mat. It is acceptable to use a mat with a contrasting core. It is also acceptable to float your painting inside the frame.
ALL frames must be in WOOD tones to ensure consistency.
All works must be delivered framed and ready to hang with D rings and wire. No sawtooth hangers.
Artist’s name will be covered during the judging process.
Non-Acceptable Work
No digitally generated works or components within work.
No paintings shown in a previous GPWS show or more than 2 years old.
No class work or paintings completed with instruction.
Sale of Artwork
The sale of your artwork is between Rehfeld’s and the buyer. There will be a 35% commission collected at the time of sale. (25% to Rehfeld’s and 10% to GPWS)
Liability
Utmost care will be taken in handling paintings, however, GPWS and Rehfeld’s will not be responsible for any damage to any art submitted to the exhibition. Insurance is the artist’s responsibility.
Reception and Awards
Reception – All members are invited to the opening reception April 4, 2025 (5-9 pm).
All members are invited to the private GPWS reception and award ceremony on April 11, 2025 at5:00 pm.

NOTE: Rehfeld’s will offer a 20% discount to any artist wishing to utilize their framing services;
Any art that Rehfeld’s will be framing needs to be in the gallery three weeks prior to the due date to ensure timely completion of framing project.

The majority of our exhibitions are free to enter and we encourage our members to price his or her work if interested in selling. All members who have membership dues paid in full are welcome to participate. All entries must be original to the artist, including paintings done from photographs, etc. Other submission requirements, such as media used, size and framing, may be requested as well, depending on the exhibition. If you have questions regarding an exhibit entry, please contact our Director of Programming.
