Julie Dent will demonstrate “Faux Bark Acrylic with Wax Paper”

Location: Ronning Branch Library, 3100 E. 49th Street. 

Supply List: 

• Acrylic brushes in various sizes, including a 1 or 2 inch wide brush
• Water container
• Paper towels or rags
• Tracing paper for transferring image
• Wax paper (not cheap dollar store brands)
• Hair dryer if possible
• Scissors
• Acrylic paint including browns (dark or light), gray, white, yellow or straw color for the bark background and any other colors you would like to try. Acrylic paint colors for the monarch butterfly OR if you want to use water as the background and a mallard duck as the subject, bring shades of blue, white, purple, lavender, green, coral, yellow and the bark colors.
• Several canvases 8×10 or smaller, or heavy weight mixed media paper, thin wood board, foam core or flat cardboard. Paint one board ahead of time with very dark brown or black so it is dry for class time.

Note: Julie will have wax paper, some paints and a few canvases available for sale if you need to purchase them at the paint in. Julie will have a picture of the monarch butterfly and of the mallard duct use or you may bring your own.
